2020 Jeep Renegade vs. 2020 Chevrolet Trax | Harlingen, TX

2020 Jeep Renegade vs. 2020 Chevrolet Trax | Bert Ogden CDJR | Harlingen, TX

Both the 2020 Jeep® Renegade and the 2020 Chevrolet Trax are compact SUVs, but that is where their similarities begin and end. While the Trax offers moderate power, unoffensive styling, and acceptable technologies, the Jeep® Renegade truly delivers with off-road-ready performance, iconic Jeep® design language, and innovative tech for safety and entertainment. Here’s how the two SUVs really stack up:

Under the hood

The 2020 Trax takes its power from a 1.4-liter Turbo ECOTEC® four-cylinder engine that makes just 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. The 2020 Renegade, on the other hand, is available with one of two engines. The base engine is a 2.4-liter Tigershark® engine that pumps out 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque — effectively putting the Trax to shame. But the Renegade doesn’t stop there; it’s also available with a 1.3-liter four-cylinder turbo engine that serves up 177 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque.

In addition, the 2020 Jeep® Renegade is known for its legendary off-roading capability thanks to its 4×4 system, available Selec-Terrain® Traction Management system, Hill Descent Control, and more.

Interior Space

Both the Jeep® Renegade and Chevy Trax comfortably seat up to five passengers. However, when you fold down the rear seats in the Trax, you get just 48.4 cubic feet of cargo space; the Renegade boasts up to 50.8 cubic feet.

Exterior style

The 2020 Renegade features bold Jeep® styling, including the brand’s iconic taillights, 16- to 19-inch wheels, and your choice of the My Sky® power removable sunroof or the dual-pane panoramic sunroof. Such signature styling easily outshines the styling of the humdrum Chevy Trax.

Both the 2020 Jeep® Renegade and 2020 Chevy Trax are safe vehicles. The Renegade, for example, is a Top Safety Pick, per the IIHS.* The Renegade offers more than 70 standard and available safety technologies, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross Path Detection.
