New Cherokee Vehicles

Are you an adventurous spirit looking for a rugged SUV to bring excitement to your life, both on and off the road? Two of the top contenders in the sporty SUV segment are the 2019 Jeep® Cherokee and the 2018 Honda CR-V. Both feature a wide range of safety technologies and innovative interior amenities. However, only one delivers the performance and off-roading prowess you’ll need to fuel your next trip – whether it’s to the grocery store or mountains – and that’s the 2019 Jeep® Cherokee.

Price

Cost is always a top consideration for drivers when purchasing a new vehicle. And despite superior performance and styling, the 2019 Jeep® Cherokee is more affordable than the 2018 Honda CR-V. The 2019 Cherokee starts at $24,195 while the Honda CR-V base model retails for $24,250.

Performance

The standard engine of the Honda CR-V is the 2.4-liter in-line four-cylinder, and it admittedly is more potent than the standard engine in the Jeep® Cherokee (a 2.4-liter I4 MultiAir®). The CR-V’s engine generates 184 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque, compared to the Cherokee’s 180 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque.

However, you can only upgrade to a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in the CR-V, which gets you 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. In the Cherokee, however, you can spring for the 3.2-liter V6 with Variable Valve Timing, which makes 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque. Or go with the available 2.0-liter turbo engine, which cranks out 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

Off-Roading

The Jeep® Cherokee is clearly the superior SUV for off-roading. The Trailhawk® trim wears the Trail Rated® badge for its enhanced traction, water fording, maneuverability, articulation, and ground clearance. Jeep® Cherokee’s advanced 4×4 system makes the Cherokee all-weather ready, and the Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System lets you switch between Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud, and Rock modes.
